The new voicemail message at the offices of Sweet & Sour Inc. says it all. The Hangmen Three have been dissolved into Sweet & Sour Inc. and now super agent Larry Sweeney controls the contracts of Adam Pearce, Brent Albright & Shane Hagadorn. Not only that, but Sweeney is just getting started at signing athletes on the ROH roster. Who is next? Sweeney teases on the voicemail (the number is available on a business card that Sweeney has been handing out at live events) that we'll find out in Orlando.
Sweeney's plan is simple. He sees money in ROH and its wrestlers. He made a hefty profit when he signed Matt Sydal, only to sell him out of ROH and to WWE. Now Sweeney wants to sign a number of individuals in ROH, lead them to titles and top PPV matches to increase their value, and then sell them to other promotions. Of course, Sweeney is promising the world to his potential clients.
Sweeney has brought the ugly side of sports to ROH. Now we have to hear about holdouts like Chris Hero and Daniel Puder. Contract negotiations are making headlines. The term "service time" has been used. Sweeney has made the sport of professional wrestling into strictly a business with the wrestlers as commodities.
ROH has always been a haven for wrestlers who want to perform their craft as they see fit with no politics or anything to hold them back. Sweeney is trying to change the landscape. He is interested in one thing and that is turning the largest profit possible, no matter what it does to the vibe of ROH.
While Sweeney has found success in signing members of The Hangmen Three, he is having problems with current client Sara Del Rey. After Sweeney's actions at the 6th Anniversary Show in Manhattan, Del Rey has taken a leave of absence from Sweeney's company. Del Rey told Sweeney not to call her, but we have learned that Sweeney is aggressively trying to keep Del Rey in his stable. This will be a situation to keep an eye on.
Sweeney's office has been very busy. Phone calls are made daily. Sweeney has devised a plan to sign up everyone he can and now he is going to execute the next step this weekend in Orlando. He wants to sell your favorites straight out of ROH. Who will Sweeney target next?
