Tonight was the date of the annual wwe pay per view, Night Of Champions, formerly known as Vengeance.

Tonight we were greeted with eight title matches that all had the potential to be great. Here is my review on the show, for the enjoyment of everyone.

Match 1-Chris Jericho and The Big Show vs Legacy(Unified Tag Titles) When I found out this was the opener, I knew something was up. When I found out The Big Show was to be Jericho’s mystery partner, I was pissed. Tonight could have been a perfect opportunity for someone to step up and make a solid impact. People like Dolph Ziggler, Brian Kendrick and Chris Masters could have been wonderful for this spot, but instead we see someone like the Big Show take it instead. I knew Legacy would not be winning the belts tonight, but I was hoping someone decent would hold the belts with Jericho. This was a fine opener that really picked up in the end.

Winners, and STILL Unified Tag Champions, Chris Jericho and The Big Show.
Match Rating-7/10

Next we had a promo from CM Punk, our world heavyweight champion. This, I believe was the promo that turned Punk into a full fledged heel. The promo was great, the greatest I believe Punk had ever pulled in the WWE. Punk works better as a heel then a face, and this proved why. Now if only he could win a title match cleanly!

Match 2-Tommy Dreamer vs Christian(ECW Championship) To my surprise, this match was actually good. At the 3 hour Raw we just had, these two faced off and the match bombed. This was a fine matchup, with its share of highflying moves, ground based action, and everything else needed for a good match. In my predictions I thought Dreamer would retain via disqualification, most likely with Vladimir Kozlov interfering, but to my surprise Christian won back his belt.

Winner, and NEW ECW Champion, Christian.
Match Rating-7/10

Match 3-Kofi Kingston vs. Jack Swagger vs. Carlito vs. Primo vs. The Miz vs. MVP(United States Championship) When The Big Show won his half of the tag titles, I knew he couldn’t wrestle again that night. I mean, the man is 500 pounds, and he was gassed from the tag match. So, Primo replaced Show in this match, which makes me wonder why was Show in here the first place? This match was fun, with tons of near falls, and everyone had their time to shine. They hinted at a possible Carlito/Primo reunion but then ended it. The Miz almost won. I really had hoped for a Swagger win, but hopefully at Summerslam we see Kofi/Swagger. Swagger needs to hold gold, and this was his night, but I guess it wasn’t to be.

Winner, and still United States Champion, Kofi Kingston.
Match Rating-7.5/10

Match 4-Michelle Mccool Undertaker vs Melina(Womens Championship)I have to say, this match exceeded my expectations. These two actually put on a very good match, they put up some fun spots, and it was the best women’s match in a while. The kick from Michelle while Melina was doing her split was fun. The DDT on the crowd barricade was fun. And even the pinning combination looked like it hurt. Of course, Michelle went over again, because she is screwing Undertaker, but Melina looked strong in defeat.

Winner, and still Women’s Champion, Michelle Mccool.
Match Rating-6/10

Match 5-Triple H vs Randy Orton vs John Cena(WWE Championship) I was surprised to see this match go on so early, I actually thought this was the main event. The match went 22 minutes, and that was a fine time. Everyone hit their signature moves, some nice double team maneuvers, and of course we had the “Legacy run-in” we all are used to. With Randy still champion, this leaves the door open for a HHH/Cena match up at Summerslam, and possibly a Randy/HBK match up as well. This triple threat was great, aside from the shit ending, but other then that, this is how you do a triple threat.

Winner, and still WWE Champion, Randy Orton.
Match Rating-7.5/10

Match 6-Mickie James vs Maryse(Diva’s Championship)Ok match up, this was the obligatory bathroom break time. The first women’s match was a ton better then this. Whenever Maryse sells a move, all she does is scream and hold the part she was attacked in. Mickie holding the Diva’s title does not tickle my fancy, she should definitely be the Womens Champion, not the secondary Diva’s champion.

Winner, and NEW Diva’s Champion, Mickie James.
Match Rating-5/10

Match 7-Dolph Ziggler vs Rey Mysterio(Intercontinental Championship)This was the final chance I had for one of my favorite up and comers in the company to win gold. By this match the show had about 45 minutes left, meaning this or the WHC match would be cut short. This match was what I expected it to be, very good. If Ziggler needed this match to prove to everyone he is deserving of a push, then congrats he proved it. I hope this feud continues at Summerslam, with Ziggler going over and winning the belt.

Winner, and still Intercontinental Champion, Rey Mysterio.
Match Rating-7.5/10

Match 8-CM Punk vs Jeff Hardy(World Heavyweight Championship)This match had a story behind it. If Jeff was indeed leaving WWE soon, this could very well have been his blowoff match. If he was staying, then this feud would have continued. Just like at The Bash, this match was great, with Punk proving why he belongs in the spotlight. But, it all ended for him, because he LOST his title, right when his reign was getting good. I have no idea why Hardy should hold the belt again, Punk has once again been granted with a shit reign for the second time. Why did Punk turn heel if he was just going to lose his belt that quickly? Hopefully if there is a god, Punk will win back his title and actually hold it for a good amount of time. We are now in another reign of terror by Jeff. Congrats Punk on a good effort, come back next time.

Winner, and NEW World Heavyweight Champion, CM Punk.
